Vintage 1942 Madame Alexander 14 Scarlett O’Hara. No markings on body or head; no dress tag. This is a composition doll with a human hair wig. She is in excellent shape with beautiful color, coral lips, and still pink on her knees and cheeks. I believe her outfit to be complete and original. There are three flaws that should be noted – a crack under each ear and some cracking started at her navel. She also shows a little scuffing at her throat and the usual wearing of paint at the arm and leg sockets. Otherwise there is no crazing that I see. This Scarlett is wearing a blue calico, pink-flowered print dress with puffed sleeves that are divided by a gathered seam. This is probably supposed to be an “everyday” dress, and not a special occasion outfit. In the film, this dress might be similar to the one she wore in Atlanta when she helped to deliver Melanie’s baby. However, it is a lovely costume with pretty touches, and I do not see this one very often. The shoulder ruffles and cuffs are accented with pink velvet; the velvet accents have frayed a bit. Over the bodice of the dress she wears a pink felt, buttoned corset belt, with a light stain on reverse that would probably wash out. She has a straw bonnet with a green ribbon. Pantalettes are in very nice shape, with a couple of small, faint tea-colored spots on front, which also may wash out. Hoop petticoat still has the wire, a bit frayed in places, but it holds the dress out nicely. Sleep eyes are clear and working. She is still posable but her stringing is a bit loose. Shoes and socks in good shape. Black wig is still well-coiffed with some flyaways, hair clips still present. She really is in lovely condition and comes with her stand.
