Vintage 1950s Madame Alexander 20 Cissy Doll Blond in Tagged Queen Costume. Pretty Nineteen-fifties Madame Alexander 20 Teenage Cissy doll in an original costume. Cissy is made of hard plastic with vinyl arms. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders, hips and knees. She is strung tight so she can hold a pose. Her knees and hips bend easily. She has pierced ears. Her elbows are not jointed. She has working clear yellow and blue sleep eyes with thick lashes, light painted lower lashes, single stroke eyebrows, tiny amounts of upper eye shadow, pouty lips, lightly blushed cheeks and no body blush. Her queen costume is in good condition and includes the gold brocade gown with medals and blue satin sash, one glove, a bracelet, very full, layered petticoat, hosiery, white elastic heels. Missing her other glove and panties. On the back of her head, Cissy tag inside the gown. I have been told – doll has a “musty” smell. I have a very poor sense of smell – so I don’t smell it. Cissy is in fair, played with condition. This doll has some flaws: eyes are turning yellow from blue, some lashes missing in the center and skin tone is blotchy. Her good points are that she appears to be substantially original because I found other dolls on line, dressed in the Queen costume who also had pierced ears and arms without bending elbows. Her other good point is that her legs pose and bend easily – rare – legs are usually stiff. However, one knee is swingy and does not lock in place – the other knee does lock. Er eyebrows look like they might possibly be re-painted – just not sure. Wig is thick, in original set with a lot of fly-aways, ends are frizzy and wig fabric is showing under the pony tail. Perfect fingers and toes. But no blush on the backs of the hands or knees. Skin tone is clean but blotchy and not even toned. Her arms and head are darker and her torso is lighter than the rest of her. Arms are firmly attached and pose well. Head is firmly attached, sits upright and poses well. Hard plastic body is clean and free of chips, chews or deep scratches. No crotch split, one repaired knee crack and one small 1/4 hip crack. Knee and hip joints bend nicely. Costume is in fair to good condition. Gown closes with working square snaps and has a “wear tear” at the base of the V of the neckline. It also has a seam rip on one side of the bodice that does not go through to the lining – so it is hard to see. One glove is missing. Elastics on bracelet and shoes are stretched out.
