Vintage Beautiful 1930s 18 Composition Madame Alexander Sonja Henie Dressed Doll. Here is a sweet Nineteen-thirties Madame Alexander Sonja Henie doll made in the image of the outstanding athlete. This composition doll is in very nice condition – having all her fingers, bright blushing and a lovely human hair wig. Sonja Henie was a Norwegian born. Three-time Olympic Champion (1928, 1932, 1936). In Ladies’ Singles, a ten-time World Champion. (19271936) and a six-time European Champion. Henie won more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies’ figure skater. At the height of her acting career, she was one of the highest-paid stars in Hollywood. And starred in a series of box-office hits. If you want to be amazed, watch a YouTube video of Sonja doing spins on the ice – it seems like she can spin forever! She is 18 tall, all composition and marked Alexander on her back. She is strung moderately tight so she can hold a pose but does better on a stand. She has clear brown sleep eyes with thick lashes, nice painted lower lashes, single stroke eyebrows, light grey eye shadow and brightly blushed cheeks and body. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. She is wearing a pretty pink gown with silver accents, original panties, pink rayon socks with a blue stripe and black paten side snap shoes with bows. I have never seen Sonja wearing this gown before so it may not be original – although it closes with square snaps, fits perfectly and is factory made. Very pretty girl for the large doll collector. Good, lightly played with condition. Has clear, working sleep eyes with all brush lashes. Nicely painted facial features. Open mouth with six upper teeth. Missing some of the painted lower lashes on the left eye. Wig is thick, long human hair, in the original set. No broken or repaired fingers. Skin tone is even and clean, No crazing, chips or lifting. Has some paint wear at all joints. Clothing is all in good condition. The gown has working snaps but may not be original. Skirt of gown has a few tiny age related holes in the fabric – not noticeable except on close inspection. Socks have a few small dots of rust on them and small rips on the foot portion that are not seen when shoes are on.
