Madame Alexander Cissy. Heavenly In All White
This pretty Cissy doll by Madame Alexander does have a rather angelic look in her all-white ensemble consisting of a flocked semi-sheer voile dress, floral veiled bandeau, purse, gloves, shoes, underclothes, and pearls. The dress is made of a vintage while voile/lawn fabric with slightly creamier flocking. It is made on the order of Cissy’s blue organdy dress with the large white dots, but the waist is not as elongated. The bodice is lined with white taffeta and closes with three round snaps. The bodice also features the bust side darts, which I’m not sure you can see in the pictures–so cute! The puffed sleeves are edged in vintage lace, and long streamers tie into a lovely bow in the back. It is very full, with the deep hem. A sprig of Alexanderish-looking vintage flowers is pinned on at the dropped waist and can be easily moved if you want. The dress was professionally made about 12 years ago. Under the dress, Cissy wears an original white taffeta half slip, with a white netted factory slip underneath for extra fullness. She also wears white taffeta Cissy panties. The elastic is good in all pieces. Her seamed stockings are by Doll Secrets and have such a great fit. The vintage white shoes previously belonged to a Revlon bride doll. The elastic is very good. Cissy’s bandeau is by Richard Originals and features white apple blossoms (I think) and tiny chrysanthemums and vintage white veiling. There is a band to hold it in place. The pretty white pearls fasten with a gold spring lock. Her “purse” is a vintage item and is made of molded plastic to look like pearls and has a gold chain handle (with patina). A piece of pretty vintage lace has been gathered and tucked inside the purse to mimic the look of a handkerchief. She had such a hard time getting her first vintage white nylon glove on that she decided just to carry the other one in her hand. Cissy is one of the earlier dolls and is in her original condition. Her coloring is good–still has cheek blush and pretty blush on her hands and knees. She has all of her brush and painted lashes, and her sleep eyes work well. Her eyes are the bluest of blue–I see no color change in them. Her blonde wig is intact and in the original style, but not in the original factory set. There are no cracks or splits to her hard plastic anywhere, and there is no damage to her vinyl arms. Her joints are all in good working order, and her stringing is tight. She has ultra-minimal rubbing at the tops of her legs There is a rub on the right side of her neck, but in normal head positions does not show. The camera seems to show that her cheek blushing is becoming slightly patchy, but is not obvious under normal conditions. She is a great doll in a wonderful outfit and would love to grace your collection. Nothing has to be done to her. Just add your stand since the one in the pictures is not included.
