CRYSTAL CLEAR IRIDESCENT BLUE SLEEP EYES with EXTRA THICK FULL ORIGINAL BRUSH LASHES! ORIGINAL ASH BLONDE ROOTED “UPDO” WIG w/ CASCADING CURLS, WAVY BANGS, & SPIT CURLS! RARE & DIFFICULT TO FIND ORIGINAL DOUBLE DROP “PEARL” EARRINGS. ORIGINAL LILAC NET HAT w/ petite original mini-florals—multi-colored MINI-PANSIES in deep lavender & white hues w/ petite wired stamens! ORIGINAL PASTEL PEACH “RIBBON PRINT” STRIPED SATIN GOWN w/ DOUBLE TIERED RUFFLE BORDER, with neckline & long sleeves TRIMMED IN IVORY VALENCIA LACE! ORIGINAL BURGUNDY VELVET CAPE beautifully line in burgundy taffeta, in UNIQUE “VEE” STYLE AT THE BACK, overlapping front ACCENTED WITH “JEWELS”, fastened with concealed original single snap. THERE IS LIGHT COLOR TRANSFER from burgundy cape lining to gown—this is very common with this particular color and with this particular Portrait Doll. I have chosen to leave this LOVELY LADY WEARING HER ORIGINAL GOWN WITH CAPE & HAT, & ORIGINAL PINK PETTICOAT & PINK TAFFETA PANTALETTES—both are trimmed with lace. Plus ORIGINAL HOSE & HEELS: PINK PLASTIC “SLING-BACK” SHOES w/ original wide elastic strap over the foot & narrower elastic straps around ankles. The narrow elastic has stretched so it has been creatively “wound tight” to secure shoes without needing replacement. I have made this Lovely Lady a ONE-OF-A-KIND PAIR OF FINGERLESS GLOVES in IVORY LACE. Miss Godey wears her ORIGINAL “DIAMOND” RING & carries her ORIGINAL “PORTRAIT” MADAME ALEXANDER HANG TAG still tied with its original pink string! I did very carefully remove the tag to make her gloves. Otherwise this BEAUTIFUL DOLL HAS NOT BEEN UNDRESSED. SHE IS “AS SHE LEFT” THE MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL FACTORY 50 YEARS AGO!! Yes, THIS BEAUTY IS 50 YEARS YOUNG! THIS WAS THE LAST YEAR THAT MADAME ALEXANDER MADE THIS PARTICULAR JACQUELINE DOLL FACE WITH EXCEPTIONAL FLIRTATIOUS EYES & EXTRA THICK LASHES! “PORTRAIT” DOLLS were made by Madame A. Beginning in 1965 through 1978 with CISSY FACES, “COCO” CHANEL FACES, & JACQUELINE FACES. The Jacqueline face was first designed in 1961—which is the date inscribed on the nape of the necks of all Jacqueline Portrait dolls. THE JACQUELINE FACE was created by Madame A. To be “JACKIE” honoring THE FIRST LADY of the same name. But permission was not received from the First Lady so Madame had to only make “JACKIE” DOLLS for one year—1961. However being a brilliant business woman, she chose to save the JACQUELINE DOLL FACE and make subtle changes and re-release it in the 1965 PORTRAIT DOLLS! IT IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DOLL FACE! ACTUALLY STRONG COMPETITION FOR MISS CISSY! Madame Alexander chose to dress her PORTRAIT DOLLS in elegant historic costumes using the finest fabrics and elaborate dress designs. A FULL PAGE COLOR PHOTO of this JACQUELINE 1970 GODEY PORTRAIT DOLL can be found on page 142 of the book MADAME ALEXANDER’S LADIES OF FASHION by Marjorie Victoria Sturges Uhl. Showing this “narrow” original Portrait Doll Hang Tag. Beginning in 1971, Portrait Dolls carried a wider rectangular hang tag identifying the individual outfits worn. My best guess is the EARLY TAGS did not identify the outfits because Madame may have thought she would only make 18 Portrait Dolls: limited to 6 DESIGNS PER YEAR for the FIRST FIVE YEARS. But when the Portrait Dolls were so successful, she continued the line with 25 additional designs over the next 8 years! ALL RETIRED & RARE TO FIND IN THEIR COMPLETE ORIGINAL ENSEMBLES. Complete with HATS & HOSE & SHOES & PETTICOATS! THIS BEAUTIFUL GODEY DOLL IS SECURELY STRUNG WITH BENT KNEES that “lock” into place when straightened. Her torso & legs are hard plastic, and her slender single piece arms are hard vinyl as is her beautiful head. This GODEY JACQUELINE has been on display in my SMOKE FREE, PET FREE DOLL ROOM protected from sunlight & temperature extremes. I have newly restrung Miss Godey—S. He is ready for many more years of DOLLY LIFE! SHE SHIPS FOR FREE FOR YOU! MY GIFT TO YOU FOR LOVING MY LADY AS I DO! THANK YOU FOR VISITING WITH MISS GODEY & ME—IT HAS BEEN OUR PLEASURE!
